Pakistani comics (پاکستانی کامکس) are comics or graphic novels originating from Pakistan. They have been publishing from long time and Pakistani comics creators have gone to produce influential work in the comics industry.
History[]
After independence, comics are only used for politics and social issues. There were professional comic artists mostly graduates from NCA (National College of Arts), GCU (Government College University) and PU (Punjab University). But there were no Publishing companies. Many Newspaper employed them as for daily Political Satire Cartooning for newspaper dailies.
In the late 80s and 90s there were Magazines like Herald, She, Danak, and kids magazines like Tallem-o-Tarbiyat and Phool that tried to utilized these illustrators and cartoonists skills to Produce regular monthly content but due to political tensions and constant Governmental changes of the of that time in print media laws many of them did not succeed the test of time. Only Taleem-o-Tarbiyat survived they released successfully reprints of many comic strips series with the help of donors and investors like the earlier version of Umru Ayyar (written by A.Hammed) and Mughal Emperors.
In 21st century, artists started creating comic books. Some new characters and superheroes arose.
